2010 Party Trend

December is the month to party, to celebrate the festive season, the year gone by and the new year that will start soon.

For this party season, look from within this season's trends: colour tones from black tones to bright pinks to metallic greys, shine and bling, short and mini dresses, classic sheath, metallics, one-shouldered dresses and tops, super high platform heels (Victoria Beckham's style), animal prints, sequins and a key accessory piece.

No matter what you wear, make sure to use your girl power: frills, ruffles (Moschino), sheer fabrics (Givenchy), high neckline and beautifully draped sleeves. And emphasise the hourglass shape, i.e. focus on the waist while making your shoulders and hips look wider.

What to wear winter 2009-2010 party season?

Black

Balck is the party colour this season (has always been though) but this season it is the top colour in colour palette of every designer - they have used at least one outfit in black.

Little black dresses are the best bet, but not only staples they have a trendy twist. Pick one with one-shoulder or go strapless with embellishments or some bling.

We like Demi Moore's classic single-shoulder RM by Roland Mouret dress that she wore with peep-toe pumps at the L.A. launch of Roland Mouret's exclusive Rainbow Collection for Net-a-Porter.

Don't want to go all black?
This season, dresses in two or more colours are hot, the combined look of two colurs looks fresh and stylish. This colour blocking trend has been with us for two seasons and hasn't lost its popularity.

Colour block black with the shades of red, white, metallics or even pastels. Natalia Vodianova wore a satin peach and black colour blocked dress during the Louis Vuitton Pret a Porter show as part of the Paris Womenswear Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010. This style would make heads turn to you, feminine, sophisticatd and sexy, it certainly is the way to party.

Bright Pink

One of the hottest colours and must have of this Fall and Winter 2009/2010 is Bright Pink. The various shades of pink were everywhere in the winter 2009/2010 and is a great pick for your party wear.
.
Party in pink, the colour is feminine, sexy and fun and would create a bold and fashionable you. Choose from brights to deep pinks, close to fuchsia tone.

How to wear?
Pink can always be combined with other colors, like black, gray, and cream and also with neon palette.

A bright pink shift dress is a smart pick, you can wear it with a jacket in the day and for the night, just take off the jacket, and some accessories and you are ready to party.

We like the way Hilary Duff paired her Bright Pink sheath dress with a black jacket, look great on her. Paired with the nude shoes, she looks taller and sexier.

You can also accessorise with the bright pink colour to glam up your look this party season. Turn heads with a scarf, handbag, shoes or another accessory. Team your LBD with a pair of hot pink heels - grey is another glam colour for this party season and goes well with pink.

One Shouldered or Asymmetric Necklines

From single-shouldered dresses to tops and bikinis, asymmetric shoulder-lines have been one of the most raved about trends for the 2009 and are popular this party season too.

Showing off one-shoulder in a dress can be subtly sexy and interesting on the eye, and the possibilities for how to wear it are numerous. You can pick a sexy one-shouldered dress, or choose a smart one-shouldered top and pair it with slim fit jeans, high heeled shoes and chunky earrings.

For a dress, you can choose from a simple and even have a casual look or can go for a feminine and sophisticated style, or something more flirty and sexy, a style perfect for party wear.

High on the thigh

This season, the emphasis is all on your toned legs, not the cleavage. Super short dresses are THE THING to wear this party season. From Gwen Stefani, Naomi Campbell to Heidi Klum, all are sporting this trend. There are lots of girls who love short skirts. So cheers ladies and get excited, this is your time to wear those sexy skirts (see Jessica Stroup below) and hit the party circuit flaunting those gorgeous short pieces!

You can go short with high hemline, like Gwen Stefani in the black number, or can choose to show your neck like Sarah Jessica Parker in her L'Wren Scott jacquard minidress.

And the best way to wear them? With thigh high or over-the-knee boots.

2. Makeup trend for this party season

A good make-up can really turn heads, so make sure to pay special attention to you makeup this party season. From the make-up trends, matt skin is really popular this winter. Shiny is out, go for pale skin with natural tints, rosy cheeks (pink, pink-blue, peach to natural-tan hues). Make sure you match your blush with either your eyes or your lips.

Your lips should look tender and innocent. Winter 2009-2010 lip color palette range from slightly pink, violet, fuchsia to extremely pale, almost skin-fitting-hue.

Steer away from lip glosses or shiny lips. If you choose to go red on lips, keep the rest of the look simple and team it with colourless eyes. Go red in Gwen Stefani way.

Eyes are the most important part of this season make up trend. There’ll be two extremes for the eyes: smoky-smoky and almost naked ones. Bright colors fit paleness. And this season, keep aside your fake lashes, emphasis is more on the eye shadows then the long lashes. Compensate the lashes with shaded dark pencil at the out corner of the eye line. Thick black and brown eyebrows are in this winter 2009-2010, as they brightly contour the eye shadow.

Trend Watch - White Jeans

Summer is almost here and that means its time to update your wardrobes with a pair of smart white denim pants. White denim looks luxurious and is flattering at any time of the day. It always looks amazing and is quite easy for you to dress up as well as down.

Crisp, clean, chic, simple yet sophisticated, white jeans really looks stylish and takes your everyday look to the next level. (Image on left: Source)

However, many of us are afraid to wear white jeans and won't even consider it as an option, afraid that it will make us look fat. True, white jeans are tricky as we usually wear them tighter. But, if you choose the right pair it can be really flattering.

In fact, I feel white denim is a wardrobe staple that transcends all trends and seasons and something every woman must have.

Lets look at some of the celebrities sporting the trend before talking about how to choose the Right White Jeans.

Choosing your White Denim

There are lots of styles to choose from, wide-leg to bootcut to slim fits to capris. Make you choice with the following advice:

- Wearing White Jeans can be tricky as it quite accentuates your bums. So make sure you avoid ones with any rear decor like embellishments, embroidery, sequins, flap pockets. The back of your white jeans should be simple and clean with angled pockets to shape and lift.

- Take a size bigger in white pants. If you'll choose something tight, it would only end up highlighting your butt and making them appear bigger. You can only go away with a body-hugging pair if you're very skinny (like Gisele Bundchen, image above).

- Pick skinny white pairs only if you're skinny, else it can make you look bigger and highlight your problem areas.

- Wear bootcuts (like dVb pair Heidi is wearing) or straight fit with high heels (your jeans should cover the heels). They'll make your legs look taller creating slimming effect.

- Pick thicker and heavier denim that is soft but stretchable to sculpt your flab.

- Cropped styles look really smart and allow you to flaunt your really sexy shoes; but wear them only if you're tall. Wear the cropped white pants with pretty printed tops for an instantly chic weekend look. If you're not tall, stay clear from cropped white pants as it will make your leg look shorter.

Wearing White Jeans
You can pair your versatile white jeans with lightweight sweaters and jackets when it's chilly, and switch to comfortable tees, vests, halters or blouses when the sun comes out.

- Like black, white matches with everything. So choosing the right colour with white is really not a problem.
.
- You can look great in an all white ensemble, your white jeans paired with a white tee or shirt, by adding some colour through accessories. Check out Lauren Conrad here looking great in an all white ensemble by adding splash of colour through her orange bag and matching shoes (perfect summer look).

- Skinny: Get a pair of white skinny jeans and pair them with a nice top. Avoid tight top if you are going with the tight jeans. Instead, think about a flowy top paired with high heels. This is an easier look to pull off. You can wear a nice cardi and cami top with your white skinnies or a nice jacket.

- Accessories: Accessorising is vital wth your white denims, it can really add to your look provided you team the right accessories.

- Watch your VPL: Wear nude coloured or your skin toned knickers under your white jeans and make sure they are no VPLs, otherwise your lines would show and any other colour (including white) would reflect under your pants.

Spring Earrings

Earrings are back for Spring and their bigger is better attitude demands a whole new dress code.
.
Designers, in their Spring 2009 Collections, massively flaunted oversized earrings - Zac Posen with his massive chandelier earrings, Marni giant earrings, Louis Vuitton with unusual tribal hoops, Ralph Lauren in ethnic style. My personal favourite was Ralph Lauren.
Even celebrities are donning this trend, love Hilary Duff's Swarovski earrings. Continue reading to check the pictures and details.

Ralph Lauren (left) and Zac Posen (right)
.
Vivienne Westwood (left) and Lanvin (right)
.
The spring collections are leaning more towards monochrome and simple silhouettes, which allow for more freedom to play with jewellery.
.
Spring’s Earrings are even conspicuous and intimidating.

Big and chunky earrings can take the simplest dress and make it outstanding for the party or afternoon out. And this Spring, in the gloomy economic scenario, instead of splurging on dresses get some oversized, chunky earrings to updo your look (certainly not the ones above, they're scary).

Its important to remember that the more outlandishly kitsch the earrings, the more severe, stark and modern your ensemble must be.

And don’t be tempted to match-up with an impressive necklace – the earrings now stand alone. But if temptation calls, chunky cuffs and cocktail ring are far better partners.

Look to those who wear earrings well – Rihanna, Beyonce and Kate Moss.

I also like Hilary Duff's statement earrings, check few of them below.

.
I particularly like the Swarovski earrings Hilary wore (left) at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2009 - Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection Fashion Show. The sophisticated rhodium-plated clip earrings have exclusive new Land-cut Volcano and clear crystals. Reflecting shades from violet to pink, the earrings have a classy sheen. You can buy a different colour of the same Swarovski earrings for $170, click here to view and buy.

.
Choosing Earrings to Suit Your Face Shape and Body Type

If you are petite linear graphic styles will suit you best – steer clear of anything overpowering. Proportion is paramount. Taller girls can afford to play with bigger more fantasised styles.

Choose metal with care – yellow gold suits for olive skin and rose gold for pale or pink complexion, while platinum and white are fit for all. Diamonds and Pearls looks good on everyone. When it comes to wearing colourful earrings, choose what suits you best because earrings, more than anything else you wear, reflect light to your face.

Your face shape would also make a difference on your pick.

- Choose long, lean and angular curved lines if you have a round-shaped face. Square, rectangular and oblong earrings are also options.

Penelope Cruz - round face

- If you have oval shaped face, you can get away with all the styles. You can easily wear Spring's huge chunky hoops trend. However steer clear from incredibly long shapes as they will pull you down.
.

Angelina Jolie - oval face
.
- Heart-shaped face can wear this Spring Earrings trend the best. The bigger chunkier earrings look great on this shape, from chandeliers, triangle to pyramid you can carry everything easily. Just avoid heart-shaped earrings or anything that tapers as they descend.

- Earrings with a round and angular edge will flatter square shaped face as they will soften your square shape. Hoops and multi-tiered dangling earrings will look amazing.
.
Paris Hilton - square face
.
Smart Tips

- You can add splash of colour to liven up your everyday outfit and this is also one of the great jewellery trend of the season. Plus, it's an affordable way of reviving an old outfit. Angelina Jolie (above) added a dash of colour to her black gown by wearing it with green emerald earrings, making her earrings an interesting part of her outfit with an edge.
- On a bad hair day, a slick pony and oversize earrings will seem fresh and updo your look.

Just remember this season the bigger, the better - just be sure to scrape back hair or style it into an (equally sizeable) quiff to get the full effect (tip from Vogue). For Spring 2009, the best bet would be ethnic style oversized earrings.
